The Star Council Award recognizes outstanding achievement in membership, insurance, and programming within the Knights of Columbus, and is the highest honor a council can receive.Overview of the Star Council AwardThe Star Council Award is a prestigious recognition given to Knights of Columbus councils that demonstrate excellence in various areas, including membership growth, insurance programs, and community service activities. This award serves as a benchmark for councils to strive for, reflecting their commitment to the principles of charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism.Criteria for Earning the AwardTo qualify for the Star Council Award, a council must meet several specific criteria:
- Membership Growth: The council must achieve a membership increase of at least 6% compared to its membership as of July 1 of the previous year. This is based on new member intake.
- Insurance Growth: The council must also meet a minimum quota for insurance membership, which is typically a net increase of 2.5% in insurance membership.
- Program Activities: Councils must conduct and report at least 16 programs across four categories: Faith, Family, Community, and Life, with a minimum of four programs in each category.
- Submission of Reports: Councils are required to submit the Annual Survey of Fraternal Activity (Form #1728) and the Service Program Personnel Report (Form #365) to the Supreme Council by the specified deadlines.
